I created the Caledon Forums (an unofficial BBS website) to fill the need for a more persistent version of the lively exchanges in the Independent State of Caledon group chat in SecondLife® (the virtual 3D online world from Linden Research). The goal was to give us a way to communicate during times the 3D world was down for maintenance and upgrades, and to allow those of us in different time zones to still catch up on current events in our community.
The creator of Caledon, Guvnah Desmond Shang has always given me (and everyone else he meets) a warm welcome, and generously allows virtually anyone to create an unofficial forum, blog, wiki, what-have-you and fly the Caledon flag (presumably so long as we do not besmirch the good name of our Victorian Steampunk community) 
It has been gratifying to see my site accepted by fellow citizens and friends of Caledon as an unofficial meeting place, and I feel grateful to Desmond Shang and his community for allowing me to join in the fun!
